Charity back to every week!

The Charity Knitting Group is back to knitting every week: Thurs morning from 10am to noon. I'm sorry for the confusion but, as we all know, that's what happens when life gets a tad too busy. We have enough wonderful ladies to insure someone will always be there.

We took a tour of Emmaus House in Haverhill and we are committed to helping them in every way we can. They are an amazing organization. What we are most impressed about is they are "solutions based." That means they help each person or family to get to a place where they can support themselves. Families, singles, elderly.... Men, women, kids of all ages. They need hats, mittens, scarves, lap afghans, quilts, sweaters, vests. ANYTHING! Babies, toddlers, youth, boys, girls... The elderly would love a lap afghan to keep the chill off. Whatever you make, they will be able to use it.

Please join us to knit or, if you can't, please drop your items off at the counter in the shop and we will make sure they get there. Please leave your name and email address so we can send you a big THANK YOU!!

Change of Schedule for Charity Group

The Charity Knitting Group is changing how often we meet. Instead of every week, we are now meeting the first and third Thursday of each month. Same time: 10am - Noon. Most of us go to lunch afterwards at Uno's to enjoy the all-you-can-eat Soup & Salad for $9 including tip. Come join us!

If you are unable to attend the knitting (or crocheting!) session, please leave your items at the front desk and we will make sure they get to the charity. If you have a preferred charity include a note and I will make sure they get there. If not, we will select the charity. Please leave your name and contact information so we know who was so generous!

We have many free patterns. You do not have to use our patterns but you are welcome to them! The only exception is the military: they have strict requirements for the helmet liners and you will need the pattern. They are not hard to make; they just have specific requirements.

Please join us!

Spring Clearance Sale

Well, its that time of year again where we have to part with some beautiful yarns, needles and knitting bags to make room for new things! And, I know how you all love new things!

Now, on a sad note, I am working the shop alone these days. With the economy as it is, and the new payroll changes that the new insurance bill will bring, I had to layoff the shop front help. But, don't fret, Vicki, Barbara and Lea still work here @ different capacities. Vicki is still teaching, Barbara is helping out on days I teach and Lea is working on computer technical stuff. So, my staff is still here to help you!

Terry is now teaching 2 project of choices classes in the evening!! Tuesday is full and Thursday had 3 openings. So, if you want to join a project of choice just call the shop.

Vicki and I still teach project of choice classes during the day. Currently Mondays and Fridays are full. We have opened another class for Tuesday Mornings from 10-12. Please call the shop if you are interested in signing up for May.

With Vicki and Terry dedicated to teaching, I hope to offer some new classes. Please e-mail me ideas and requests for upcoming classes. We are open to fresh new ideas! My e-mail is sue@knitpickings.com.

We still offer both knitting and crochet clinics with one to one teaching with an instructor any time. We just ask that you call the shop with 24hr notice so we can have an instructor available. Cost is $10/half hour.

On a happy note, my daughter Meghan is graduating from New England College on Saturday May 15 th so the shop will be closed that day!!

Thank you for your continued support!!

April Showers!

April is just around the corner, and it's a wonderful time to be knitting and crocheting! Rainy spring days, sports events, sunny and mild afternoons spent sitting out on your deck or porch...these are all perfect opportunities to relax with your needles or hooks and some yarn.

Have too many projects hanging on your needles? Come to our UFO workshop. UFO stands for UnFinished Objects...we all have them, and we all could use some help finishing from time to time. The workshop takes place here at Knit Pickings on April 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Our full class schedule for April is up on our website. Click here for details. Stop in and reserve your spot in class today!

New Year!

The holiday season really came and went very quickly this year!! Of course no holiday season goes by without it's share of mishaps!!

As some of you already know, Gail Gelin has left Knit Pickings as an instructor. It was a very difficult time for all of us as we really enjoyed learning from Gail's many talents. We wish her well on her new endeavors!

Change can be very difficult. We understand that! Some of Gail's students have decided to take a break from the project of choice classes. So, we now have openings on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Terry Campbell will be taking over the Thursday class from 7-9 PM. She is a wonderful teacher and person. Terry's favorite part of knitting is the finishing. I know, can you believe it?!! She is a master @ finishing. In fact, Terry also repairs and finishes other folks garments. She has been knitting for 30 years+ and is an experience knitter. Her work is beautiful. Terry also spins and sews. She can even put in those pesky zippers!! I am blessed to have found Terry!!

Vicki White and I will be sharing the Wednesday class for a bit. The plan is for Vicki to take it over down the road. Vicki has been with me from the start of the shop in 2006. She also has been knitting 30 years + an is an experience Knitter! Vicki's favorite knitting is cables! Vicki spins and weaves as well. I do have talented staff!!!

New yarns and accessories arrive each week. So, you might miss new things if you don't stop in often! Just kidding!!

New this week is Jade Sapphire cashmere scarf kits. Each kit contains 4 skeins of cashmere yarns and seven different scarf patterns. We do have a beautiful sample scarf that you will see the staff and I wearing. Cost of the kits are $99.00 for 100% cashmere!

We also have go knits new sterling silver stitch marker charms necklace. The necklace is a black cord with stitch markers of various shapes and sizes. It is beautiful and functional. They sell for $36.00.

Spring yarns will be arriving soon as well so stay tuned for New arrivals.

Events for the next month is a Yarn Tasting with Warren and Marina Shumway of Cascade Yarns. The event is Friday January 22nd from 6-8 pm. Come and sample new yarns from Cascade. All purchases on Cascade Yarns will be 10% off that night as well!! Refreshments will be served!

Stay Tuned for info on our annual Super Bowl Sunday event and the magic loop workshop in February.

Happy Knitting!
